Academics

Community Christian is an independent microschool- a reimagining of the one room school house- providing hands-on, individualized learning experiences, kingdom building worldview driven instruction, and community engagement opportunities.

  • Why Community Christian?

Though the responsibility of raising and educating a child ultimately falls on the family, the old African proverb, “it takes a village to raise a child,” still has the ring of truth. Have you considered who you would like to partner with you on your child’s developmental journey?

We want to foster an atmosphere that promotes belonging and reduces stress, anxiety, and frustration for our students and their families. We are eager to become a part of your village, to support you and to provide your child with an educational experience and environment where they can thrive, be motivated to reach their fullest potential and be prepared to impact the world for Christ.

  • What is a Microschool, exactly?

The microschool movement evolved from the possibilities inherent in homeschooling and continues to embrace innovative instructional strategies and a non-traditional learning environment. Most existing microschools are small and report fewer students than public and traditional private schools.

One feature common to microschools is student-centered learning. Another prevalent characteristic of the microschool movement is mixed-age learning. As a result, students grow in their ability to regulate their work and choose appropriate, meaningful ways of demonstrating their learning.

  • What is our Philosophy of Learning?

We believe the key to learning is finding a connection between a student's unique, God-given learning style and the subject being taught by tailoring content, pace, and instructional technology to each student's interests and abilities.

By setting goals, offering a variety of assessment options, providing ongoing support, and maintaining consistent and frequent communication with parents, we believe our students will be properly supported and motivated to successfully reach learning outcomes.

Uniform & Dress Code

We believe that wearing a uniform connects students to a larger learning community and prevents distractions and pressures that can arise from brands, styles, fit, etc. We believe uniforms unite our students and promote a positive learning environment and healthy relationships within the Community Christian family.
