What We Believe
We believe in one sovereign God, Creator and Sustainer of all things, eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:1; Matthew 28:19; 1 John 5:7-8).
We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood on the cross, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory. (Matthew 1:23; John 1:1-4 and 1:29; Acts 1:11 and 2:22-24; Romans 8:34; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Philippians 2:5-11; Hebrews 1:1-4 and 4:15).
We believe that the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, renews and regenerates us (Titus 3:5-7); seals us for the day of redemption (Ephesians 1:13-14); reveals God’s truth to us (John 16:7-14); empowers us to fulfill our God-given purpose and be witnesses for the Kingdom (Acts 1:8); sanctifies or transforms us to live holy lives that align with His will (1 Corinthians 6:11); and guides us, strengthens us, comforts us and intercedes for us (Galatians 5:16; Ephesians 3:16; John 14:16-17; Romans 8:26).
We believe that all human life, from conception to natural death, is created in the image of God, and that we are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life. We also believe that the Scriptures require us to treat every person with compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity as is worthy of God’s image-bearers and instructs us to reject unloving behavior directed toward any individual (Psalm 139:13-16; John 13:34; 1 John 4:7-12).
We believe that God has wonderfully and unchangeably created each person as either male or female. These two distinct, complementary sexes/genders together reflect the image and nature of God Himself (Genesis 1:26-27).
We believe that God has ordained the family as the foundational institution of human society. We also believe that when God created humanity, He ordained the marriage covenant to be a unique bond between one man and one woman (Genesis 2:18-25; 1 Corinthians 6:18; Hebrews 13:4). Furthermore, we believe children are a wonderful gift and heritage from the Lord. Parents are ultimately responsible for teaching their children spiritual and moral values through consistent lifestyle examples and appropriate training and discipline (Gen. 1:26-28; Ex. 20:12; Deut. 6:4-9; Ps.127:3-5; Prov. 19:18, 22:15, 23:13-14; Mk. 10:6-12; 1 Cor. 7:1-16; Eph.5:21-33, 6:1-4; Col. 3:18-21; 1 Pet. 3:1-7).
We believe that the Lord graciously offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness by grace, through faith, in Jesus Christ alone (Romans 10:9-13; John 3:16-19; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:8-9).
We believe in one church, the body of Christ, a universal community of believers who make up the Kingdom of God (1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Ephesians 2:19; Ephesians 4:4-6, 15-16).
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ commands all believers to proclaim the Gospel to others and calls us to a life of self-denying love and service for the building of His Kingdom (Matthew 28:18-20; Ephesians 2:8-10; 1 Peter 4:10).
Statement of Faith
Community Christian holds that the Bible, consisting of sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired Word of God, and is entirely infallible and authoritative on all matters on which it speaks (2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:21). This is our sure foundation, and upon it:
